Lighting Designer Jason Robinson recently employed Bandit Lites and Martin to help an American Icon turn 100 years old.

Celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the leading American motorcycle company, whose roar is known on every highway and byway across the land, is not a task for the fainthearted. Successfully fulfilling the expectations of the client, as well as the 250,000 people in attendance at the free celebration was a significant assignment.

“Bandit Lites and their crew performed extremely well,” commented Lighting Designer for the show Jason Robinson. “They were challenged and pushed to the limit due to changes with talent and creative additions. Their attention to detail and preparation made all the difference to the show’s needs.”

The lighting rig was a stunning artistic achievement that featured custom trussing in the shape of the Harley Davidson logo, along with 6 triangular trusses located behind the logo and additional trussing both stage right and left.

The logo shaped truss held 10 MAC 500, 8 MAC 2000 Profiles and 24 MAC 2000 Wash fixtures with 18 MAC 600s running down the middle of the logo. Each of the 6 triangular pod trusses held 18 MAC 600s and 18 MAC 500s. Some 30 MAC 500s graced the right and left stage trusses while two half-moon trusses were located at the rear of the rig.

The event took place under a heavy veil of secrecy as to the headlining acts. In the end it was revealed that in attendance for the celebration were the Doobie Brothers, Tim McGraw, a guest appearance by Kid Rock, and Elton John.
